Description
The longer the trip, the more you get out of it. We are offering these getaways in various locations around the state because we want you to experience the best adventures that New Hampshire has to offer. Some trips are totally in the wilderness, camping in remote locations. Some trips are basecamp adventures, meaning you'll stay at a campground, inn, yurt, tipi, B&B, or cabin and take day trips from there. Other trips are inn-to-inn tours, or are based in more cultural areas. All of these trips have been carefully planned for the purpose of spending time outdoors exploring nature, developing useful backcountry skills, and learning (or brushing up on) various outdoor recreational sports. All meals are included--we do our best to adhere to any dietary restrictions. |
Anything is possible! Besides the main activities, each day may also include other activities, depending on availability and group interest, such as: nature study and animal tracking and signs; outdoor photography, sketching, or painting; primitive living skills such as making fire and shelter and finding water and food; target archery; map and compass; discussions of wilderness hazards, ethics, and low-impact practices; geocaching; building/crafting useful items from forest resources; outdoor cooking; and wild edibles/medicinals. |

Min./Max. Enrollment: Varies--see listings. Bring: Daypack (backpack), favorite energy snacks, two (2) reusable, wide-mouthed, 1-liter water bottles, proper footwear for activities (i.e. hiking boots & water sandals or booties), camp clothes and shoes, and layers of synthetic or wool clothing for the season (no cotton), including expedition-style rain or snow suit. Northern Forest OUTDOOR Adventure Camps (W/G)
Get active in nature! Join your female companions and guides in New Hampshire's Great North Woods and participate in daily adventures--hike, bike, paddle, and more! Summer and Autumn sessions are listed below. Need more convincing? Listen to this: Hike the boreal forest and smell the evergreens in New Hampshire's part of the Northern Forest that stretches around the Northern Hemisphere! Mountain bike a gentle wooded road along a clear mountain stream. Kayak (summer) or canoe (autumn) calm currents and/or exhilarating whitewater. Look for moose during an evening "moose tour." Stargaze with a telescope. Try your hand at fly fishing and target archery. And, by the way, backcountry and survival skills lessons are included, such as low-impact wilderness travel, animal tracking, map and compass, finding food and water, starting a fire, and building an emergency shelter. Good stuff to know when planning your own future trips with your family and friends. This is an active, educational trip right alongside your guides. Everyone is expected to pitch in for a smooth flow of activities, including hauling gear and equipment and assisting with meals. Safety, fun, and learning is what it's all about! You will play hard, eat well, and sleep soundly. Girls ages 10-15 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Min./Max. Northern Forest WINTER Adventure Camps (W/G)
Propel yourself through the deep woods fresh air in the snowiest part of New Hampshire and discover the Northern Forest during winter. You'll see frozen mountain streams, dark starry skies, and signs of boreal wildlife such as moose and snowshoe hare. Try backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, animal tracking, bushcraft, and survival skills. This unique winter/early spring camp comes with hearty food, cozy beds, and great service! This is an active, educational trip right alongside your guides. Everyone is expected to pitch in for a smooth flow of activities, including hauling gear and equipment and assisting with meals.
