Bring
Backpack, favorite energy snacks, reusable water bottle filled, proper footwear, spare clothes & shoes, and wear/bring layers of synthetic or wool clothing for the season (no cotton). Seasonal items: sun/bug protection, snow spikes for slippery terrain, swim suit/towel. Additional items may be needed (rentals available), see listings. |

January 22, 2016 Cross Country Skiing in Mount Washington Valley Location: North Conway, New Hampshire Description: A cross country ski lesson, tour, and lunch. Event Fee: $45 Rentals: X-C Ski Package $15 February 26, 2016 Snowshoe Nature Hike at Squam Location: Holderness, New Hampshire Description: A snowshoe nature hike to discover wildlife adaptations in winter, identify trees, track animals, etc, and lunch. Event Fee: $45 Rentals: Snowshoes $14 March 11, 2016 Fire Building & Outdoor Camp Cooking at Lakes Region Yurts Location: Alton, New Hampshire Description: Lessons in fire skills and outdoor camp cooking using various methods and have a feast for lunch! Event Fee: $45 April 15, 2016 Basic GPS & Geocaching (Hiking) in North Conway Location: North Conway, New Hampshire Description: A basic GPS lesson, and a fun geocaching hike--like a treasure hunt, and lunch. Event Fee: $45 May 20, 2016 Map and Compass & Hiking at Squam Location: Holderness, New Hampshire Description: Starts with a lesson in map reading, compass use, and navigation using both tools together. Hike an easy trial while learning local history and nature trivia. Be rewarded with great views during your picnic lunch. Event Fee: $45 June 16, 2016 (NOTE: This is a Thursday) Nature Hiking the Boreal Forest of the Great North Woods Location: Dixville Notch, New Hampshire Description: Explore one of New Hampshire's most unique wild places while having fun discovering local nature. Start in Dixville Notch State Park in northern New Hampshire, and then challenge yourself with a moderate hike (that's part of the Cohos Trail stretching from the northern Presidentials to the Quebec border) at a slow pace to experience the sights, smells, and sounds of the boreal forest. There's a good chance of spotting moose, Canada jay, spruce grouse, pine martin, waterfalls, and mountain peaks in three states plus Canada. Survival tips, nature and history interpretation, and lunch will be provided by your friendly naturalist/guide. Event Fee: $45 July 29, 2016 Canoeing Chocorua Lake & Nature Hike Location: Chocorua, NH Description: Canoe lesson/tour on the most photographed lake in New Hampshire with a scenic backdrop of Mount Chocorua. The nature hike from the lake's edge features an easy trek through the forest to a remote pond to experience a diversity of plants and wildlife. Picnic lunch. Prerequisite: Participants must know how to swim. Event Fee: $45 Rentals: Canoe/Paddle/PFD $20 per person August 5, 2016 Whitewater/Quickwater Kayaking on the Androscoggin Location: Errol, New Hampshire Description: A whitewater/quickwater kayak lesson and tour--covering safety and equipment orientation, paddle strokes, navigation, rescue techniques, and communication. Picnic lunch. Prerequisite: Participants must know how to swim. Event Fee: $45 Rentals: Kayak/Paddle/PFD Rental $35 per person--we use sit-on-top kayaks with thigh straps for whitewater. September 9, 2016 Bike, Hike, and Outdoor Photography in Franconia Notch Location: Lincoln, New Hampshire Rentals: Mountain Bike $30 per person Description: Basic mountain bike instruction on designated paved multi-use path (equipment and safety orientation, body position, gear changing, communication, basic bike inspection and maintenance); hiking with tips for staying healthy and found; talks on Franconia Notch natural history, geology, and water systems; picnic lunch; and outdoor photography opportunities and tips. Event Fee: $45 October 7, 2016 Autumn Hike & Painting Workshop in the White Mountains Location: North Conway, New Hampshire Description: Experience New England's fall foliage up close with a short guided hike, and participate in the historic art of scenic painting with instructor Carol Hansen. Beginners welcome. Rain, shine, or wind. Event Fee: $45 Art Fee: $25 November 4, 2016 Basic Survival Skills Lessons at Lakes Region Yurts Location: Alton, New Hampshire Description: Hands-on survival skills, discussions, and lunch. Could you handle an emergency and survive in the outdoors? After a hearty luncheon in the yurt, head outside to learn what to do if you are lost, how to build a shelter, make a fire, signal for help, purify water, get your own food, and how to recognize and treat hypothermia. Event Fee: $45 December 9, 2016 Winter Hiking at Green Hills in North Conway Location: North Conway, New Hampshire Description: Guided scenic hike through the forest to a mountain peak with views of mountains in a winter landscape. Picnic lunch. Note: Winter hiking boots are required--insulated, waterproof, and good-gripping soles on slippery rocks. Event Fee: $45 |
