9AM - 4PM These hikes are considered moderate to strenuous, so active people will have a great time. We go rain or shine, so dress for the weather. WEAR/BRING: - Backpack, lined with a plastic bag. Map and Compass Lesson
A valuable life skill without dependence on battery-operated technology, this old-fashioned method of navigation can save lives and is used by hikers, hunters, sea kayakers, and others. It is also the basis for fun exploration knows as orienteering (the predecessor to geocaching).

10AM - 12PM Learn how to read a land map (and/or water chart), use a compass, and navigate a route in the backcountry using both tools together. We go rain or shine, so dress for the weather and wear hiking boots or sturdy sneakers. Also, bring water bottle, energy snacks, sunscreen, insect spray, hat/visor, small backpack to hold everything, including layers of clothing that you are not wearing, i.e. rainsuit, polar fleece, etc. |

Northern Forest Canoe Trail Autumn Adventure for Two
Leave civilization behind to experience New England's Autumn colors and explore the Northern Forest Canoe Trail in northern New Hampshire. Enjoy a professionally guided 2-day canoe/kayak camping tour and stay at a bed and breakfast on each night before and after the trip.

3-Nights/2-Days...Starts in the Great North Woods Region of NH in the afternoon/evening on Day 1 and ends after breakfast on Day 4.
B&B, camping, and kayak or canoe...Your guide will decide the on the best paddling route at the time depending on a number of conditions, either on the Connecticut River in northwestern N.H., or in the Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge and Androscoggin River area in the northeast. There will also be an opportunity for a 1-3 hour hike into the boreal forest, suited to the group's interests and abilities. Trip goes rain or shine. A detailed pack list will be provided. You'll need to bring layers of synthetic clothing for warm and cold weather, rain jacket/pants, water shoes, and camp shoes. Tent and sleeping bag/pad rentals are available. |

The Connecticut River is the longest river in New England at 407 miles. The Connecticut River's name is a French corruption of the Abeniaki word quinetucket, which means "long (tidal) river." This river in northern New Hampshire is surrounded by natural forests and some farms.
The Androscoggin River is 178 miles long and has been recently documented to mean "fish-curing place," as well as "river of cliff rock shelters." This river in northern New Hampshire features wildlife such as moose and loons.

5-Day/6-Night Hike/Bike/PaddleThis adventure-packed multi-sport getaway is our most requested vacation trip from outdoorsy folks who like variety and want to explore the best scenic and wild areas of New Hampshire's Great North Woods, White Mountains, and Lakes Region. at 10AM on Day 1 and ends after breakfast on Day 6. If you’re a beginner, a little instruction will get you underway. Daytime guided activities include hiking into boreal and mixed forests with scenic views, mountain biking designated roads/trails alongside cascading streams, and paddling on the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Squam Lake. Stay three nights at A Peace of Heaven in the Northern Forest unincorporated township of Millsfield, and two nights at Jonathan Beede House Bed and Breakfast in the quaint country town of Sandwich. |

Gear/Equipment Needed: For this particular tour, you must provide your own trekking poles, snowshoes, and snow spikes if needed in winter (we can recommend rental sources). Backpack, lined with trash bag. Waterproof hiking boots in summer, or waterproof/insulated hiking boots in winter (for snowshoeing, snowmobile boots or Sorel-felt liner types would work if they're a snug fit). Winter Night Hike / Snowshoeing - Choice of Western & Eastern NH Location: Plymouth or North Conway, New Hampshire (eastern or western White Mountains Region) Time: 5-8pm Price: $25/person Description: Experts in backcountry travel, survival skills, nature, and history, our wilderness guides help people of all ages have fun and be safe on outdoor adventures in every season. For this guided winter hike, which is offered during the cold months when the moon is more than half full waxing, to full, to half full waning (in other words, every night around the time of the full moon), hikers will be setting out at 5pm, ascending various mountains in Central N.H. regions each night. Discovering wild animal tracks and watching the Moon rise from atop a mountain (or valley clearing) is exhilarating and fun. Guides will provide hot drinks (cocoa, apple cider, tea) and snacks. Gear/Equipment Needed: You must have full winter gear, backpack, headlamp--and snow spikes, trekking poles, and snowshoes as needed. (1) Mount Moosilauke, a 4,000 footer in the White Mountains near Plymouth, NH. This full-day hike starts at 8 AM. For the hearty, ages 10 and up. (2) Cohos Trail section near Dixville Notch in the Great North Woods. Half-day and full-day options start at 9 AM. Moderate climbing uphill at least one hour--all ages, including toddlers in backpacks. (3) Presidential Rail Trail in Gorham or Whitefield. An easy way to get deep into the North Woods and see remote ponds and stunning views. 2-8 hour options for walking and biking. All ages and abilities, including those with special needs equipment. Youngsters in backpacks and bike trailers that are available for rent. Great place to sit, wait, and observe wildlife! Suitable for all ages, with babies and toddlers in backpacks. Learn what to wear and take along on a day hike in order to enjoy nature’s peace and scenery. Also learn basic route finding with a map and compass (we don’t trust battery-operated equipment!), as well as how to navigate terrain and deal with weather and environmental hazards.

Introduction to Canoeing & TourDiscover paddling on flatwater (pond) that is suitable for families of all ages, with a mountain view.

Canoeing can be a lot of fun, especially when you know how to paddle efficiently, be safety conscious, communicate with your partner, and understand the water, weather, and wildlife. Canoeing has been the traditional method of transportation in North America for about 10,000 years, and is still preferred by our guides here in New Hampshire between April and November. A river lesson will be arranged for this group afterwards or on another date if there is interest. Adults and older children must be able to swim.

Introduction to Whitewater KayakingFor swimmers ages 12 and up with no previous paddling experience, you’ll get to know the exhilaration of riding a sit-on-top kayak in a river with current and waves.

With flatwater options in the area to start with, this lesson covers paddle strokes, proper positioning, safety issues, reading and navigating the water, communication, self-rescue, and paddling anywhere you want to go on a river all while having fun. The day includes transportation to the Androscoggin River in Errol, NH (1-1/2 hour drive from Conway) where you’ll have a chance to see moose and other wildlife along the way and back.

There’s nothing like pedal power to get into some of the most scenic areas of New Hampshire. Mountain biking is a great family activity with older children and teens. Learn how to ride and try new trails with us, whether you are looking for rolling backcountry roads, rail trails, or single-track mountain trails. If you are new to riding, we’ll will give you a mountain bike lesson along the way, which can include, safety and communication, navigating turns and hills using body position and gears, and basic bike inspection and repair. Becoming an archer is an individual challenge and can lead to a fun hobby or even the Olympics. We use one-size-fits-most compound bows for ages 5 and up. Archery instruction includes: History, safety orientation, range rules, practicing progressive skills, and games.

Join a native naturalist and use your senses to explore and discover what’s wild about New Hampshire. Become aware of wild flowers and edibles as well as animal tracks and signs. Learn the history of our geological landscapes and the diversity of species that live here now. You may spot birds and other critters on these walks in the woods.
